i have a bunch of acans tbat i’m leaving on their frag plugs. will they eventually outgrow the plugs and just stop growing or will they keep growing even after the plug is completely covered. if that makes any sense..

They will grow under the plugs. You need to ramp them to something to give them an easy path to grow. You can use tiles under them if you prefer to keep them on the sand bed.

so you’re saying for them to continue to grow i should wither put them on tiles or put them on the rock work?

If they are growing I would leave them be personally. They will grow fine on the sand bed IME. Most of the micromussa I grew were on frag plugs. I put some on a rock and left some on the sand, never noticed a difference in growth rate/health of the coral.

See pictures below. The bowerbanki is on a plug but you can't really tell. The coral will "jump" onto the epoxy around the plug instead of growing down the plug then maybe attaching to the rock.
