I bought this pretty large acan colony for fairly cheap and upon arrival I noticed a little bit of, what appeared to be dying acans, but I haven’t had any experience with acan echidnas before so I wanted to get everyone’s opinion on what is going on

I don't think that's an acan, looks more like a chalice in the pic.

I am 99.9% sure that it is an acan echinada but then again I have never had a chalice so I cannot be 100% certain but on the first picture on the left hand side I can definitely see something is messed up with the coral

That is more like it, an echinata.

Looks like it receeded a bit on the edge. Could have happened from a number of different things. Keep an eye on it to see if it keeps going or starts to heal

Its pretty deflated if it's an acan, might need more time to adjust to your tank. Acan echinatas are usually more fluffy than that. I only have acan lords tho, so no first hand experience.

What do I do if it keeps receding do I have to cut off the dead part of the acan as to stop potential, further, necrosis or do I just find a better suited place in my aquarium for it?

If it keeps going make sure all your water parameters are in check, if they are and it keeps going cut off the dead part and make sure you cut into healthy flesh to try and stop it from spreading.
