Acans the 2019 fad???

I agree with the high end sticks being the top, but - maybe I just haven't noticed before, but everyone all sudden selling and carrying rock flower anemones and the rising price with names attached.

People will still pay a mint for nice zoas and acans, but premium aquaculture sticks will continue to be the 900 pound gorilla

I have always love the corals formerly known as acan lords now called micromussa. Good fleshy polyps, good color and color variety, fast growing, hardy, does well in a mixed reef under many conditions. To me it seems their peak was a few years back. Today its all about the high end designer tenuis corals.

I've been finding some really nice colors lately. Much better than I've seen since I started in the hobby. Here are a few from my new tank:

On the left is a lilac polyp with neon green mouths. One is actually half green/half purple, which really pops. On the right is a baby blue rimmed orange polyp with hot pink mouths. Awesome pieces from Seattle Corals. I've got a few other cool ones I need to snap some pics of.

Sorry for the bad pic, but they are finally starting to spread on the rocks! The red/metallic one on the right was my first acan a year ago, single head. Fed that little fella a mysis at least a few times a week, now his colony is over 20 mini heads. It’s so fun once they really start taking off!

Micros I guess? Or Micro Lords.

Calling them Acans is kind of dumb anyway, but we do it with acropora and stuff too and just leave the species out a lot of the time for some reason. There’s more than one Acan so it’s like saying tang, and that’s it. Even though most of the time we say Achilles or Powder Brown or Purple tang instead of just ‘tang.’

Sadly they are easy to frag but slow grower. Remember in the old days you could get the full head 8 to 10 inches for 50 bucks. No they sell to cut up pieces for that.
