Acans under t5s vs LEDs

Hi everyone,
What is everyone's experience with scans under t5s vs. LEDs?

I have a few mini colonies under LEDs, when I got them, they were nice orange color, but are now more red. I've been told this is a common occurrence using LEDs. Will colors maintain better under t5 lighting?

Would acans kept under LEDs recover their color if placed under t5 lighting?

My Acans and Ricordeas all changed color when they went under LEDs. When I recently switched back to T5s they all started changing colors again. Ask again in another month or so and I'll let you know if they switch all the way back.

From my personal experience acans are best kept under t5. I've kept them under radions and they all color morphed to an ugly gold, green color. Under t5 I can sustain the rainbow colors and pop. I do use blue led to help with added pop but that's it.

Is there a combination of T5 bulbs that help the colors stay vivid? LED's ive used in the past were only white and blue. I've read there are other colors avaialble in T5s that would help the acans color up better?

T5Ho all day for acans. The soft diffuse lighting causes them to expand their tissue more so than the directional and intense beams from LEDs, especially those with lenses. Also with regard to light spectrum, the T5's hit the near UV and 420nm actinic so effectively its hard to match it for diffusion in any LED package. Sure the diodes may emit the proper wavelengths, but it's the delivery mechanism that makes T5 superior in that respect.

Just my opinion in terms of what's 'best', but the acans I've seen under T5 seem to retain the patterning and complex color combinations we love. I have yet to see an LED system match or exceed any T5 with regard to acan husbandry - they may very well exist so if anyone has better success with LEDs over their acans please share!
