Hey reefers, just went to the Frag Swap yesterday. It was my first frag swap so I got to see some awesome setups. Anyway, I had a custom LED set of 12 Whites and 12 Blues built into my 24g Aquapod before researching, so I am now stuck with a set of non-dimmable LED's. They work great and my Zoas all look great, but I have recently put in a new set of acans. I run an 8 hour light cycle (2 hours blue, 4 hours blue and white, 2 hours blue) and have all coral as close to the sandbed as possible. I have been told that Acans need shade under non-dimmable LED's, but I have no shade available in the tank. Any help on this subject would be awesome.

I had the same problem. Went with non-dimmable whites. I ended up just buying a dimmable driver. It was well worth it. That said, I ran non-dimmable for a long time. I would cut back the whites to say 4 hrs and work them back up. You can use a screen or put the acan in the shade if you are really worried.
