For 100.00 bucks you can have 10lbs of live ocean rock delivered next day to your door. Your tank will already be established and won’t have to worry about the ugly stage

That was over 10 years ago and I'm pretty sure the owner had a crash or most of them melted. I actually met him a couple of times back then but never saw the tank in person.

I would not recommend someone new to the hobby to start with dry rock. It requires more than patience but skill and a good amount of knowledge

You are MUCH better off getting the live rock and just QT it by itself during the cycle to prevent any diseases and you can make sure there no pests in that time too.
You’ll be much better off than starting dry and trying to build up that bacteria. I speak from experience. Dry starts sucks
