Hey all, recently acquired this 2.5” acantho, has had it’s mouth open since I got it 3 days ago, it came in like this. Water has been stable and I will post an update with parameters after I test today. No tissue recession or skeleton showing but this is the most it inflates and the mouth closes during feeding time but otherwise no feeding response. Sitting in 40 PAR as I’ve read they need to be acclimated very slow. Let me know what you think, thanks.

I’m no expert. But it doesn’t look horrible to me. Only three days- may still be getting use to the tank. I see some flesh puffed up. I’m my experience when it’s very unhappy it won’t puff up much.

In the photo I’m guessing it’s about 3” wide. How big is the skeleton? Is the flesh bigger then skeleton? If so, it’s not super super unhappy- if flesh is about same size as skeleton then it’s not puffing up and for sure unhappy.

but im no expert. I’ve kept 4 of these and still have three of them. They seem slow to acclimate compared to other lps I’ve had. I’m guessing it’s just getting use to new tank- hopefully lol.

good luck my friend and happy reefing!
