Good evening everyone, a few days ago I received an acanthophyllia from a trade and the base hasn't been cut, I was wondering how much I can remove without harming the coral. I have a buddy who can help me cut it but just want to find out where I can cut it at. The base is roughly 2" in diameter and roughly 3". I currently have it sitting in a pvc coupler and I really would like to have it sit on my bottom sheet of glass. All help will be greatly appreciated and welcomed.

Not sure, but I'd take thin slices until you're content, hopefully not hitting living tissue. I have seen other folks with Lps that grew a second polyp when trimmed too short.

You can safely take off a 1/3 of the cone. Just make sure you sealed it up with with glue.
