What would cause this coral to split in the home aquaria? Is it stress like the nems?

Can you post a picture? How long have you had it?

so cool!!! I have never had one do that. Granted, I only have one of that species and it got injured due to a frogspawn falling on it overnight. It is still mending months later. I have had it almost 3 years though.

Keep and eye on it in case it is stress response, but looks healthy. Watch alk and ca with these guys. Good luck!!!!!

My worrie is if it’s stress related, I’ve read that in nature they will release flesh in hope that the new piece finds a better spot. Normally stress true lack of light. She’s under a 6 bulb ati so not sure what’s going on, still pretty cool to see it happen first hand

Well, at the risk of being a party pooper, that may not be what's going on here. I think I see two mouths already in the first picture (angle makes it hard to tell for sure). In the later pictures, the peripheral tissue now extends centrally from the upper right so that it overlaps the zone between the two mouths, but I don't think the coral has actually grown. Also I see what looks like an exposed or nearly exposed skeletal plate at the upper right which is where I would guess the tissue retraction starts from. If it's reproduction that's awesome I've never seen it before, but I'd be concerned that there's been some damage there and the coral has reacted to it. The tissue overlying those plates is really easily injured in these meat corals, even by too much direct flow.

Thanks mate, yeah you spot on in der some of the skeleton is showing in that area but it wasn’t showing wend I first got it did a full exam to it and the body was perfect at first sight unless it was hidden and it was damaged from the previous owner my flow is very lps friendly just low and random. Are you thinking the second mouth is showing true the damage? Probably a wait and see what happens situation. I’ll try and update the thread as things change so that there’s some info on google from now on.
She does look healthy and the piece of skeleton that is showing is quite dark wich is doing my head in as if it was recent it should be white in it?

Indeed, wait and see. If any of the skeleton is actually exposed completely, without any tissue, you're right it'll be white at first, but then turn darker within a few days as algae grows on it. Please post followup!
