Hi all,

my tank loses about .1 alk everyday. Is this too much or is it ok. It’s a small system so I do 2 water changes of 2 gallons a week on it. 25 gallon tank. Only have euphillia and zoas atm.

Shouldn't be an issue. Just make sure you have a regular testing schedule. If you start growing coralline algae that could easily jump from .1 to 1.0 a day.

0.1 dKH is almost nothing. That would be completely acceptable to hand dose all at once.

Dosing is kind of up to you....many ways to skin that cat. 2 part dosing by hand, 2 part on a doser, kalk, calcium reactor.

I wish I some coraline would show up. At that point do you reconmend an auto doser or would could I hand dose and what

Coralline won't just show up but you can buy it in a bottle.

My personal experience with coralline is that unless you want to commit to daily hand dosing you probably should invest in a dosing pump. My tank currently consumes about 4PPM ca and 1DKH with an 80g total volume of water. The Coralline is absolutely out of control growing on everything. I'm currently dosing about 34ml a day of BRS 2 part. With weekly 10-20% water changes depending on how I feel about the tank.

1DKH a day was way too much between water changes, I try to limit my DKH swings to less than 1.0 between water changes, that's me. But with Dosing it's a non issue.
