I'm planning a tank to have an external overflow in the center rear. It will be close to a wall behind it and the aquarium will also be close to a wall on the left side, so access to the back of the tank and overflow will be limited to above and the right. Mr. Saltwateraquarium said in one of his videos that he doesnt like to do that in case a bulkhead needs tightening. I would much prefer an external overflow rather than a full height internal draining out the bottom. Do bulkheads require occasional tightening or other maintenance? Is there a way to prevent this such as adding silicone? Thanks.
