Okay, I admit that’s hard to make out, but he’s there in the top right corner. A baby bangaii. Pretty cool by itself, but a month after...

Congratulations! I've found stuff like this with Freshwater Egg Layers, but never in salt. It's really cool to know that you can have a tank going so well that the fish start reproducing in it. It's exciting and gets you even more engrossed in the hobby.

I had the exact same thing happen. It was sort of mindblowing because my male bangaii in the display had died (assuming female killed him because he always had eggs and he must have refused them the last time). I then had two babies in the sump, so they must have been released right before they went to lay again (when he died). They lasted a couple months but ended up getting sucked through the return pump. I would have done something about it but I had nowhere to put them. I never "fed" them; but they grew rapidly so they must have been getting plenty of food somehow. Even at the earliest stages there must be enough plankton reproducing naturally in the tank to sustain them. Crazy...

That is so cool! I have a young pair of clowns that I eagerly await for spawning, and have been reading everything I can find about how best to rear the fry. Not having done it yet, the process seems daunting, but your example reminds me - life finds a way!

Very cool. I have had spawning attempts by clownfish, damsels and cardinals but none have survived. I just assumed that the other fish gobble them all up. Its good to know that is possible that one day I may end up with a survivor or two
