This is interesting, I bought small colony of bam bam’s from Top Shelf Aquatics like a month and a half ago which were growing on what appeared to be a totally dead, stark white montipora skeleton. About a week ago I noticed when my blues were on I could see bright yellow dots under the surface. Then this week I actually started seeing polyps popping out and the skeleton was turning ever so slightly light orange. So I carefully clipped some of it off from around the zoanthids and glued them to a rock. A few days later and the two pieces are recovering even more. You can even see the piece under the zoanthids has polyps as well.

Curious to see exactly what it will become. Anyone else had a coral they didn’t even buy rise from the dead and turn into something cool?

I bought this coral from a local reefer that was getting out of the hobby. It was sold to me as a JF Grape Juice. The lower section of this acro was dead when I purchased it. I was going to cut it off after a while it being in my tank.

About 1 month after it being in the tank, I get a message from the misses saying that something red was growing on the frag. I was stumped at the time, and replied back with it just might be some coraline growin on the dead part of the coral.

I came home that day on the hunt for this red spot she was talking about. And sure enough, something red was growin on the dead part, but it sure ain't coraline.
