So I sometimes break off a tiny piece of a hikari algae wafer to feed my fire shrimp so he doesn't crawl over my flower pot coral while feeding fish. Well I dropped it in and it fell on to my Duncan coral and the Duncan ate it.

This happened once before and nothing bad happened but I wonder if there is anything that can go wrong from this.

Can anyone elaborate on the potential effects of this?

I fed my tank mixture of TDO, reef chili, reef jerky, and algae pellets. Usually by the automatic feeder. But I occasionally spot feed the corals with this mixture and some chunks of thawed frozen shrimp for the bigger ones. I’ve never observed any ill side effects of corals that pull in the algae pellets. The algae pellets and wafers contain a mixture of stuff including lipids and proteins.

Example Hikari Sinking Algae Pellets.

Check your wafer ingredients. Should be fine. Don’t forget corals also capture phytoplankton in their mucus all the time in the wild and in tanks that dose it.

I target feed my LPS corals with pellets and they love it. Many of the same ingredients are in Reef Chili from BRS.

Anemones have learned to take pellets , I just drop it on them , they are at water surface , old Duncan used to eat caulerpa it’s fine lol
