I waited for a few weeks to see if it would come back, but it didn’t I’ve been embarrassed to write this post, but I figured it would be a cautionary tale of moving corals around. I didn’t want to be seen as a bad reef parent, but I realized that mistakes happen, especially since I only started in February.
I moved from VA back home to IL a few weeks ago and had to transport my 15 gal tank and its inhabitants. Everyone turned out great, except for my poor torch coral I had just gotten end of April.
I used two 5 gal buckets from Lowe’s to put my rocks in and I covered all the corals with red solo cups.
Pic right after I had taken out the rocks from the buckets
Torch’s skeleton now, I’ve been in denial of it being dead so I haven’t brought myself to remove the skeleton yet.
It was my favorite coral, and my dream coral. I just feel really sad and cry when I think about it. RIP torchie
Any advice for moving my tank in the future? Have to move again sometime this summer and I want to reduce the casualties.

I will definitely leave it in there for a bit to see how it goes, but it’s relieving hear that mistakes like this happen
