Accidentally ran hot water through my Rodi filter

I had to hook up my Rodi filter to a new tap that I forgot was extremely sensitive. I turned it on an left. When I came back the hose was hot, I measured the water temp right away and it was 107f.

I use this model, did I ruin it?

even more so if I have to buy another unit. The canisters say up to 100, and I clocked it at 107. I just hope their max has some Martin of error built into it

I don’t think you need to worry. I live in Phoenix as do a lot of other reefers, and the cold water coming in to our homes gets well over 100 degrees quite often during the summer. I’ve had zero issues. That said, everyone says that it ruins membranes, but that has not been my experience whatever that’s worth.

Love it, was running it out of my garage but it’s winter here now so had to move it indoors. It was running for a while. Filled a 5 gallon bucket

do you have a handheld tds meter to test the water after its made? it would just help to give you some peace of mind

For most membranes the limit is 113 degrees that will destroy the membrane. If you didn’t get up to the temp you’re probably okay.

it will matter what it was going into the filter, as the membranes will cool the water (and maybe deform) as it passes through

Unfortunately I dont, just saw they are pretty cheap though so lll order one

No that’s the temp limit for the membrane, or at least for most membranes.

I should point out that if your membrane is destroyed your di will most likely be depleted as well.

I’m not very familiar with that style of filter but the membrane will be the one that says RO with the green label in the picture you posted.
In most rodi filters you would just have to put a new membrane in it, but on that style I believe you have to just replace that canister.

Assuming it’s ruined, which it may not be.

If it’s ruined you should just need to replaced the certain canisters. RO and DI would be the ones that are most likely to be ruined.
