Accidentally sold wrong size tank to person

I sold a tank for $325. Guy lived 2 hrs away and so we met halfway.

now there's 1 issue. I got this tank from a guy I traded my corals for it. He said it was a 45-gallon tank. I believed him took the tank and just wanted to sell the tank. It's much harder to sell corals vs selling a tank. I didn't measure the tank or anything just threw it on Facebook. After I sold it the guy messaged me saying its a 30-gallon tank...


I didn't realize it was a 30-gallon tank. What should I do in this situation? he lives 2 hrs away and met me in a public parking lot.

Ask for dimensions of it probably and if it really is a 30 gallon tank maybe work out some sort of you giving him some money back. Also let the guy know you got it from it’s a 30 gallon if it really is and maybe you can work something out too.

What are dimensions?

A 30 gallon is 36" L X 12" D X 16" tall
A 45 gallon tank is 36" L X 13" D X 24" tall

I would work out a partial refund if you can agree to that and just send a paypal or whatever you both can agree on.

This will display this persons' dignity.
Once dimensions i gave you above are verified, let him know Nicely that size was misrepresented and you really needed a larger tank like a 45 gallon.
Tell him youre willing to work with tank if he's willing to work with you and paypal you $60-70 as a negotiated compensation. The real difference will be 8" of height between both tanks

Personally, I'd refund the person I sold the tank to some money and hit up the guy that traded me the tank in the first place to try and recoup said money. If the guy I sold the tank to wants to return it, I guess I'd meet him halfway again, but that would suck.

But ultimately, it's the buyer's responsibility to verify the item before accepting it so it's just what you can live with yourself.

Ended up sending him $60 back. He sent me Dimensions and It matched up to the jbj 30 gallon rimless tank aio. I tried to message the original guy I got the tank from and seems he’s not going to answer me
