Hi ReeftoReef,

So My tank has finally finished cycling NH 0 NO2 0 NO3 20-40ppm(cant tell the color I will doing a water change tomorrow). Im going to get a few CUC to clean up the crap that formed during the cycle. Iv looked online about acclimation for saltwater and its straightforward but it seems that the directions are for waters that are different in many ways.

I use NSW, The place I will be going for all my inhabitants use the same water that they sell to their customers. Most parameters would be the same or close to except for NO3 levels PO levels. Do I still need to acclimate for 4 hours or...? I have a lot of freshwater fish and I accumulate 50/50 percent of the time. And Iv lost fish from acclimation more than I did than popping them in the water after letting the bag get to temp.

CUC, Fish, corals time frame? is dipping only for corals (dont worry not getting corals yet)?

I like to use a 1/2 measuring cup for acclimation for everything. I put the bags in the water and let them float for about 15 minutes. I open the top and tape a side to the aquarium edge so it doesn't float away on me. Every 3-5 mins I pour 1/2 cup tank water in the bag until it gets full. Check salinity. If it's real close I then remove the fish/coral/invertebrate into the tank. If not close enough for my liking I dump out 1/2 to 3/4 bag of water and repeat. Most times I aim for 30-60 minute total from when I open the bag. If its something I bought online I aim for 30, something I bought at the store a few minutes from my house I take up to an hour because I am not as worried about the ammonia building up.

I use this system for everything. I don't drip acclimate anymore; it was a pain with the temps. I did this yesterday for a tuxedo urchin and 2 corals. Just had to fill the bag one time to match the salinity and tuxedo did great, both my hammer and torch opened up within about 20 minutes of going into the tank and seem to be doing well today. I haven't lost a fish to acclimation since I stopped dripped acclimating, so around 2 years now.
