I think I know the answer already but I wanted to get some insight from the many experts here.
1. When acclimating coral, I am aware that many modern LED fixtures have either a schedule intensity or an acclimating mode that reduces the light. I can see this making sense for your first coral, but does this have any negative effects on a tank that is already full of other pieces? My gut tells me that coral is relatively tolerant to temporary dips in light level vs. temporary boosts in light level, and so the corals already present would be fine for a few days or weeks because they entounter cloudy days in the wild.
2. Would it be bad if I started my tank off at 100% intensity? I'm assuming I'd be more likely to encounter algae issues, but if I eventually plan on having SPS and I have an XR15 blue in a 2ft cube, does it save me time in the long run to start at a higher intensity or schedule intensity and acclimate each addition?

I have one more follow up question. Why do so many reefers reduce the intensity of their lighting to 30-60% instead of getting more Par and starting higher? Is it all because of algae? Or is it more that 100% is very tricky on a new setup and the cons outweigh the pros?

I would just place the new corals on the sand bed or as close to with a frag rack and weekly raise the rack higher until in the desired lighting range.
