acclimating fish via fish trap?

Has anyone attempted this method of acclimating fish? Im tearing down a few of my tanks and i really want to keep my powder blue tang. So here's what i'm trying to do.

I fed all the fish in the reef tank(250G) seaweed and then LRS reef frenzy. i'm hoping that the seaweed and food will help calm their temperament. Then I put my powder blue tang in this fish trap and placed him in the 250g reef. So far only my 6 year old chevron tang has been VERY interested in him. over the last hour "Chevy" has not left the fish trap area. I was planning on this happening and i plan on keeping the powder blue tang "Gixxer" in that fish trap for the next two days or until Chevy and the other fish seem to not care about Gixxer anymore. any thoughts, comments or advice is appreciated.


 
I use this too. Works well. I also have it so my fish can see any new arrivals while in Qt. They get used to them without any harm and less stress imo.
 
Been doing this as well with new fish, just doing it in a diy acclimation box. Btw, beautiful chevron (I love their adult colors).
 
so after 27hrs Chevy stopped bothering the powder blue tang in the fish trap. I released him and now they are friends. Right after doing that I did the same thing with my purple tang and all is fine!
 
1. Do the fish get enough water flow and exchange through the trap? (it's a great idea btw)

2. Beautiful fish from the top.

3. We must see a FTS of your tank. :D
 
Fish Trap

Wish this post was a few days earlier. Just put two tangs and a long nose Hawk fish in my tank. After 3 months in QT tank the hawk fish jumped out the first night.
 
Glad it worked out! I woulda been a little leary about using a trap/acclimation box that small as I have two wrasses in my Elite box and I feel and keeping them in there...but awesome that it worked out for you!
 
When the acclimation box fails another thing I've done is remove the fish that is going after the new guy and putting in my QT for a few weeks. When re-introduced (via acclimation box) he becomes the "new guy". I've had this work twice in the past.
