Hi,

I wanted to post something regards to this as I have had some bad experience in the past with Maxima clams - I love them, but they can be a pain :-). I wanted to take a chance again as I believe my parameters are better then 6 - 8 months ago since I have done some different things and started to also dose trace elements. Seems that corals are thriving, so I ended up purchasing a 5" Maxima from LiveAquaria. This is my concern as I did test the water it was shipped in to see how different my aquarium chemistry is... What surprised me is that the Kh is 14 ! I keep my at 10 Kh. Although I am drop acclimating, I feel that this is a big difference... should I just acclimate slower and perhaps longer period?

Cal, Mag doesn't concern me as much - shipped around 480 ppm (cal) and 1500 ppm (mg). My tank water is around 420 ppm (cal) and 1300 ppm (mg).

Thanks!

great, thanks! I always thought that Alkalinity was important as large swings can have an impact on corals.
