today I brought two snails for my reef tank. After hours of buying the snails. 7 hours. I finally got home. I took sample of water inside the bag and used my refractometer. Salinity sitting at 1.033. How can I acclimate the snails without killing them.

Sorry you didn't get help on this one. There are varying opinions on how to acclimate inverts. Some say not to drip acclimate after a long ship because it can raise pH too quickly and cause an ammonia spike as a result. They recommended temp acclimating only. Others still recommend drip acclimating. I'm not sure what that time frame is where you want to forgo drip acclimation though. Reef cleaners has a good explanation on its website about the shipping/pH/ammonia dynamic.

I’ve gotta admit that I’ve been a proponent of the “float the bag for 15 minutes to temperature acclimate, then drop them in” especially if salinity is close.

But the last time I did that with snails I wound up with a pretty high mortality rate after a few days. I got four new snails two weeks ago and drip acclimated them for about an hour and all four of them are still doing great today.

I’ll probably continue to float and drop with fish, but with inverts like snails I’ll probably switch to dripping.

That salinity is EXTREMELY High. Do balance it with your tank water and acclimate adding a cup of water every 15 mins X 4-5 times. desired Salinity is 1.025-1.026
