Hi there

What the best way to acclimate a fish purchased online. I heard it’s just best to temperature adjust by floating the bag on the water then getting the fish out of the bad into your QT.

Just wanted to confirm because I know it’s different vs getting a fish locally due to transit times

Find out what the salinity in the bag will be. Match your QT to that salinity. When you receive the fish, float the bag for about 20 minutes to temp acclimate, then pull the fish out and drop into QT.

To me it depends on the species and if the bag is dirty.

Thanks - yes I will test the salinity when it comes in. They are coming from Divers Den.

Just remember that you want to minimize the time that the bag is opened and the fish is still in the shipping water. You want to open the bag, match salinity, and pull the fish out as quickly as possible to prevent ammonia burn. DD usually ships in 1.024-1.025 water, in my experience.

Oh I should be good then - the salinity is at 1.025 right now
