I just received my first order i've gotten online and was wondering if there was anything special I should do to acclimate the zoas other than float em and dip em?

You just need to temp acclimate them and dip them. If there is a difference in salinity from the store to your house tank then i would say yes for an hour or two. Otherwise after the dip put it in. It's what I have always done. Sps corals I drip just so I don't shock them too much.

I have had success by do a 50% tank water addition to what they arrived in for one hour then dropping in. Though its hard to say if it is really more effective than just dropping the coral in your tank assuming the parameters are within normal limits. Dip also.

Cool, cool...I just temp acclimated them and dipped em and they seem to be doing good...now what about light? Should I not put my halide on today and just run actinics or does it even matter?

Please search more about keeping a reef tank.
Those are basic questions and should be answered by you before purchase any organism.
And I'm actually helping you, to firing you!
