I used a critter cage too. Drilled a bunch of holes in it, then used my algae magnet to attach to side of tank. This is an example i have. They're in a growout tank hence the pretty hair algae.![]()

It is pretty ingenious of a design that @ca1ore came up with! I like that it is suspended and viewed on all sides from the current tank inhabitants.@ca1ore that is a great idea ! A box made with egg crate held together with zip tie's ! Custom size & dimension .
Talk about inexpensive ? A sizable rock to weigh it down or piece of foam pool noodle to float. No need to open & feed .

Do you have pictures of it showing it's full size?I love DIY stuff and have done a similar egg crate box in the past. Not as polished, but focused on functional.
However I found the following which was about $25:

Notice the pictures show a single square box, but look at the measurements and the description of 'dual'. I ordered and the box is great. It is twice as long and is a one-piece continuous rectangular box and not the square on the picture if you leave out the optional divider. The closing lid allows me to target feed as well. I double checked my invoice and it was for the model: YCA-CMD02. Great little find!.
