Hello guys I want to get fish for my tank but my dotty back never takes kindly to new adds last time he chased it around till death so my question is if I kept them in a acclimation box for a week or two would that be a issue anymore?

Fish agression is always an issue. The way that I have found to work best on agressive fish is to re-arrange the rock work just before introducing the new arrival and then introduce in the dark or at least diminished light conditions. This isn't a silver bullet but it works about as well as I have seen for dealing with territorial agression.

Kinda hard in my tank as it’s only a 45 cube

If you have a separate tank you could try taking your dotty back out of the DT and add your new fish then reintroduce your dottyback into the display after a month or so.
If I could get that dotty back out I would trade him right back to fish store cant catch him bottle trick or fish trap mirror trick nothing

Haha I feel you man. You could try using a fish trap that has worked for me in the past. I have also used several nets and left food in them which has worked as well.

I always turn off the lights on my 185gl & I have a blanket that goes across the frt,top & sides so almost total darkness until the next day when adding new fish.

Oh that’s interesting do you think that idea can work with a smaller tank like mine?

Is this a bicolor or Orchid?

Unfortunately the dotty back may continue to be a bully. They are well known to be aggressive fish, even with rearranging rock work and time outs. I would re home it or return to the LFS.
