Good morning all,

I have finally upgraded my tank lighting from LED to T5/MH which i have wanted to go back to since i started up again. To give some back information I purchased a used tank off a couple who was moving as I could not pass up the deal. They had it all setup wrong and i have finally gotten filtration where it needs to be. Last part was lighting. They had the below Light which was slowly killing corals as the tank is a 4x2x2.

This was just slowly letting the corals die and never really growing them Plus coloration was Horrible. I had a friend who was upgrading his lights and I got a deal on Aquamedic Ocean Plus which is 2x54w T5 which are Actinics with 2x150w Halide that currently has 20k DE bulbs.

Attached Picture.

What I need help with is I am getting some film algae under control but I also need to acclimate the corals to the lighting as well. There are a couple mushroom, 1 Lps i cannot remember the name, 4 Leather corals, about 6 Candy Corals that were not doing well under the LED. Right now I have shortened the Light cycle to 8 hours and am running t5 only (LED light cycle with blue and white was 14 hours just to keep Corals Alive) My question is now quickly do I ramp up MH and by the end how long a day do you guys keep your MH on?

I can give more detail as needed based on your questions.

Also I believe this light will be sufficient to keep SPS up high as I will be re aquascaping the rock after I clean and do a water change tomorrow. Correct me if I am wrong at all.

I'm currently going through the same process but on a small scale (20 IM Nuvo) and two 10000k DE MHs @150watts ea, plus T5 actinics. The bottom line is this exercise is really a matter of observation and reaction, sometimes relocating corals, or adjusting the photoperiod, or putting egg crate and screens over the tank. Each oral reacted differently, and it takes patience. I'm 4 weeks in and anticipate another 8 weeks.
