Hi All.

I've grown tired of my bi weekly GHA picking sessions. 1.5 weeks ago I added a ReefCleaners crew with hermits and I'm cycling the GFO back in today. I only use GFO (ChemiPure Elite) when p04 is over 0.03, It is reading 0.03 or less but I am frustrated. So I'm hoping that stripping p04, keeping n03 low (2.5ppm) and doing a 3-4 day blackout will do the trick. I just had a major algae picking session yesterday and did a 25% water change along with cleaning all filters and my skimmer.

The part I'm unsure of, and don't see discussed is the potential to shock the corals by simply flicking the light switch in a few days after total dark. The tank is stocked with mostly Zoas, Mushrooms, xenia, GSP, Leather, some LPS (Blasto,Goni,Favites), Hammer and a Duncan) and a few Sps (Lepto and Monti). Everyone is relatively healthy aside from GHA irritation. Am I good to just turn the lights back on? Ai has a good acclimation mode so I'm wondering if that is the way to go.

Light specs:
40 Breeder with 2 Ai Prime 16hds
UV 66%
V 66%
RB 50%
Red 4%
Green 4%
ML+CW 10% fading to 0 over 9hour photoperiod with 1 hour ramp up/down.

You can use the acclimation mode - but - look at it this way 1) it's a short period. 2) during storms in the wild it can be quite 'dark' during storms, etc.

I always (now I did it for at least 6-7 times) did this:
first day I turn on blue only (if you have leds, otherwise run lights for few hours only) and from day 2 I run lights as usual.
