Well. Not the cleanest nor prettiest silicone job. But hopefully will do the job.

I figure Wednesday i will put stuff out of garage and onto the driveway and set up all that will be downstairs= sump with skimmer, refugium, and reeflo pump , have temporary plumbing making water flow from pump into sump, then plug in the pump and see what happens. Hopefully , no plumbing leaks other than in the temporary plumbing .

Ok, so what r you all using for threaded pvc joints? I have used teflon tape, but have been reading tgat its not recommend by some, i confirmed thus with Reeflo , they recommend using a sealant. I picked up this:

Ok- no comments so far on the thread sealant.

So , testing baffles in 40 sump. This is the first baffle , where water from display tank located 14 feet above will pour in. Water that goes over this baffle will then go thru the filter socks.

Yep = failure!

Ok, well that first baffle is NOT all that important,at least not for complete water tightness. The next baffle must ,repeat must, be completely water tight. Or when the system is shut down all the water in the 40 sump will flow into the 75 refugium and overflow it.

Testing fixed skimmer, it looks good. But not enough bubbles to see if repaired areas are completely sealed or not. Anybody know how to get more bubbles with wasting a bunch of salt.

Probably another month. Overflow from Custom Acrylics wont be done for 2 weeks. Have to get the sump and fuge setupbfully working downstairs , so i can move coral/fish/etc into the 75 refugium. Then break down the 65 tank in living room so i can then start figuring exactly where i am going to cone thru the floor for the flex pvc drains and return.

Ok added vinegar and bubbles were immediately insane. Unfortunately, I can now some bubbles getting thru the crack that was "fixed" with Weldon#16.

Tough to see in pic , but three places I can see bubbles shotting out of the skimmer body. Well , back to the drawing board.

Sucks about the Skimmer man, are you going to try and repair again or just find another?

Repair. Have lots of Weldon #16. Lol.

Not sure if i need to remove the weldon that is in/next to the leaks or just " inject" or paste over the area.

The proper way to do it is cut the Skimmer along the break, clean the cut and then re weld.

OK rewelded with Weldon and the skimmer passed test today = YES!!! I cleaned the area as best as possible but did not want to re-break the whole skimmer so it is mostly a "over the old" sealant job. But it worked. Tomorrow - Set up and truly cement the PVC joints. Also begin to cure Extra rock- should have been done weeks ago. I knew I was forgetting something ......

Never seen rector seal in a tube, awesome. Never used it on plastic though. I always heard to use silicone or atv type. You can undo the threads if it's siliconed. I think the reason you use silicone is because if you tighten too much you stand the chance of craking the fittings.

OK trying to glue PCV joints today. But cannot get them to seat properly. The PVC only goes in about 1/2 of what it looks like it is supposed to? Is it the humidity making the PVC sticky or what?

If there's a lip on the inside measure that to the outer edge, then take that measurement and draw a line on the pipe. I have never heard of humidity messing with the glue unless it's wet on the pipe. I have always put glue on the pipe and the connector/ female part then twist the two together then hold for a little.
