Achilles tang itching but not ich?

Trying to ID what is going on here, Im thinking flukes but wanted other opinions. He is itching around, eating fine. There are two other tangs in the tank and they have no visible things going on like this guy. I understand they would all need QT no matter what it is, but want to approach it correctly.

I agree with your suspicions. I'd consider giving the tang a freshwater dip to confirm or eliminate flukes from the picture.

Could be flukes, you can do a 5 min FW dip to confirm and if positive treat your DT with Prazipro.

Dose Prazipro 1 teaspoon (measured) per 20G twice 5-7 days apart with a 25% WC before the second dose. Aerate heavily as Prazipro depletes O2. If you are treating in QT let your DT go fallow for 4 weeks.

I might have to do treatment in DT unfortunately, its a 300 and will be really hard to catch everyone without taking it apart. Seems pretty hit or miss on the info if its reef safe or not though

The biggest threat you’ll have is with bristleworms and such. If you have a large population you may have a large die off causing ammonia. I would get a couple bottles of biospira just in case.

I’ve been reefing over 20 years. Prazi is the only medication I’ve ever dosed in my tank . The only thing I noticed was a drop in nitrates and phosphates. No issues in my tank.

I’ve used it in a display as well before, with no issues. Feather dusters and ornamental worms won’t tolerate it, and bristleworms like already mentioned.

Keep the skimmer running with the cup off, to help with aeration.
