I wanna hear how the people that are successfully keeping Achilles Tangs got them to start eating in the beginning. Also what other methods have you found to be successful with this fish? Please post ANY and ALL info!

You have to get a small one to start with , then tons and tons of flow along with fresh algae twice a day and some Roger's frozen food, that should do the trick, however still the most difficult tang to keep in the home aquarium.

Well mine died due to popeye in a tank move, but I had one eating wonderfully on my home made food right off the bat. It was skinny at the store so I got a good deal on it and nursed it back to health. It was extremely fat when it got popeye and just didn't pull through

Did you start it out on your homemade food and is your recipe a secret recipe?

Yep, started on the homemade food right away. Wouldn't eat at the store but after two two days of "tasting" my food a little he was gobbling it up as fast as I could drop it into the tank...
I will try dig up my recipe and can post it on R2R and link it. It is on one of my local sites though and if a link is allowed I'll go find the thread. All my tangs, clowns, wrasses, and angels would eat the stuff so it seems to work well.

I just didn't feel like reposting all the pics and everything. I have slightly changed up the recipe, but the base is still the same. I no longer add flake food or the black algae stuff. I also make it in larger batches.

Awesome recipe! I'm considering attempting this recipe as I have a 6" Blonde Naso, a Magnificent Foxface and a small 2.5" Fowleri Surgeonfish.
Sorry to detract from the OP, just wanted to comment. I'd love to have an Achilles, it's my wife's favorite. Waiting for a couple of years until I upgrade to a larger display, something in the 72" range with hopefully a 36" base.

I had one eating for a few months whitout a trace of ich and all but my purple tang chased him around enough and eventually it appeared. which led to its loss of apetite and soon after losing him.
