Achilles tang with a weird skin condition

A friend added this Achilles few days back and it got some skin erosion around face and gills. Be did a freshwater dip and fish stopped flashing but this morning 3 days after the freshwater dip it got this. Any idea what this is and how to treat it.

It does rather look like Brooklynella, which can be contracted by any fish, though it's usually associated with clownfish. An Acriflavin dip and treatment in a QT with Metronidazole can help a lot.

It could also be the result of a sting from an anemone or coral - though I don't know whether that's likely, or even possible, in your friend's tank.

Thanks for the info. Never heard of Brook on tangs... But he did confirm the slime appearance on the fish so ur diagnosis is spot on.

Thanks very much sir. I saw your thread looks ver the same. I found my achilles playing with or having some fights on my clown. But the thing is clown is clean. Will do things recommended on your thread. Il go with acraflavine and isolate him in QT. It all started in the face and now the face is well with no signals but it keeps on running upwards and now on the sides. Maybe the achilles is irritated on the skin of the clown?

Not for Brooklynella hostilis. Copper will only suppress symptoms.

That disease is best treated by doing a formalin or acriflavine bath, followed up by dosing Metronidazole or Chloroquine Phosphate into a QT.
