Hi i have an 8 inch Achilles in QT right now just as a precaution. I have the following fish in my 480 plus. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether or not there will be any aggression in my tank once he is added? I hate to have to use an acclimation box for such a large fish because it might stress him out more. Here is my list of fish. Thanks for your input.

10 inch Dussemeri
6-7 inch Fowleri
10 inch Broomtail
5 inch scribbled
6 inch scribbled
8 inch Vlamangi
8 inch crosshatch
7 inch Asfur
9 inch Queeen
9 inch Emperor

I don't see any other acanthurus tangs on that list to cause immediate concern. Is your Vlamangi aggressive? Either way, as you say, you can't put an Achilles Tang in an acclimation box. If you put it in the tank just after lights out (so it can chill and hide overnight), then kill the lights again on the first day if it's getting picked on, that might be all you can do

oh and overfeed your fish on the first day or two so they are fat and happy, not hungry and feeling the need to fight off new competition for it

DER, sorry you had Dussemeri which is an acanthurus. I imagine that could be a problem. I assume you can't move any rockwork around to aid off territory aggression?

acclimation box I agree is too small but potentially using some egg crate to "divide" the tank and existing tangs from the achilles could work. Youll be able to see if there is aggression and allow the tangs to get use to achilles for a few days.

Yes I am hoping the size of tank should help. I am also adding a cave before I put him in. Also I am hoping because he is a different shape that also might help. Thanks

I had some tang aggression last week when I added a new sailfin and setting a mirror next to the glass seemed to help alot!
