I finally added my dream fish, Achillies Tang, to my tank (525xl) this week. This fish is about 3" and he was eating well at my local fish store. I bypassed my 20 gallon quarantine tank and added him directly to my display tank. My Powder Blue Tang harassed him so I removed the Powder Blue. The fish is swimming vigorously and he is foraging on rocks. I have tried flake food, nori and all type of frozen foods including mysis shrimp. After four days he is not eating well, however he looks "healthy". Do you have suggestions on what I can do to get him to start eating?

I would not be too concerned yet i have XL large for about 8 months that would eat well !! then about a week ago he stopped eating or grazing for 4 days!!! I kept offering his favorites and about the 5th day he started eating again!!! Go figure? No explanation? Its a good thing he is still grazing. Thanks

Swimming vigorously sounds like it’s stressed or sick. If he’s stressed then I’d recommend some sort of live macro algae like sea lettuce or red ogo (preferred) rubber banded to a small rock. But it’s hard to get enough of it in a pinch. Do you have much algae on your rocks to graze?

If he has a gill parasite like velvet pay close attention if he’s swimming into current for relief, flashing, scratching or even labored breathing. If you note any of these strongly consider QT with copper. You have to get him eating soon in a stress free environment. Good luck.

I’ve had good luck with the sera algae tabs that you stick to the glass

This fish began with aggression. The fact that it is grazing is a good sign it will give in. My potters angel nip on rocks and glass for almost 2 weeks and was concerned if it would eat food and not get thin. Then about a week ago it suddenly jumped the food wagon.
One enticer for feeding is always Live Brine shrimp. I would give that a shot with the achilles
