I have a beautiful 4" Achillies tang that has ich and I am leaving on vacation. The fish is eating like a pig and otherwise very healthy. If you are an experienced fish keeper and have the ability to provide a hospital tank and future home, I will give you this expensive fish free. You must live in the Sacrament area and be able to take the fish today.

Aww man- I would be on this if in your area.
Ich or velvet?
Is it the only fish in the tank? If not, others may be infected. If thats the case, you can place them all in QY for full 30 days while you are gone with copper power or Copper safe

It's ich. Unfortunately, the person taking care of things in my absence, will not be able to manage a hospital/qt tank, but TY.

This is going to be on the other side of things, so take it as it is.

Tons of people “manage” ich, while not what I do, it can be done. A fish that is eating, healthy (besides the ich) may be able to live with it. I am not saying yours will, but it could make it through your vacay and then you treat the fish when you get back.

If you have a tank sitter, they could provide updates to you as well.

Understood, but I'm going to be in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for 3-weeks and didn't want to come back to a bunch fish and SPS casualties. I have "managed" ich as opposed to "eradicating" ich, for 30 years, so I understand your point and no offense taken. TY

SPS casualties due to possible fish casualties the tank sitter didn't remove. I know ich won't kill my sps, but poor water conditions from decomposing fish will.

I live in Reno. I have several quarantine tanks and have done several rounds of medicated quarantine with my fish. I can drive down to Sacramento and pick him up today. I’m starting quarantine for a new fish tomorrow so this would be perfect. I have two large tanks and will have a 8 foot tank in a year or so. May I have him?

Got ya. Is there an lfs nearby that you could “donate” the fish to? I know a lot of lfs run their tanks with some copper or may even have a qt system. That could be an opinion as well. With the price of Achilles, knowing most from wholesalers have something disease wise, an lfs may jump on taking the fish.

You can! I am attending my granddaughter's 8th birthday party today, and it ends at 2:00 PM. If it works for you, I will meet you at Aqualife in Rocklin at 3:30 PM today. This will save you an additional hour drive to Ione.

Great thought! I was planning to call my LFS's when they open today if I didn't get a response from R2R. most of them know me, so that should help.

You got it! I’ll be there at 3:30. I emailed you. My phone number will be in the email. I appreciate it!!!

And this is why I love r2r. Always good people willing to help out critters of the sea.

Hope it all works out and the fish does well.

Threads like this make up for all the threads and comments from people who have been in the hobby for three months and act like they know everything under the sun, who provide concrete advice that can never be ignored to people who have been in the hobby for two months.

Nice to see this happening.

A HUGE shout out to Assasi for looking after the best interest of his animal and giving me such a lovely specimen. Achilles tang has been picked up, arrived safely at home, acclimated, currently undergoing safety stop before going into QT. One night of rest and copper will be started tomorrow. I’m truly grateful!!!
