Yes, but you need to let it aerate for a while afterwards to bring ph back up.

You want to reduce alk in NSW (why?) or do you mean to NSW levels?

Dkh is around 11.
I want to reduce at 8

Yes, it is one of the ways I recommend. You need not use the Seachem product. Just buy sodium bisulfate on line.

@Randy Holmes-Farley thanks as always for your helpful tips. Can you add this directly to the tank in moderation so long as something like a protein skimmer is running for aeration?

Go very slow adding to a tank.
Can drop ph pretty drastically short term. Breaks the bonds of bicarbonate and releases co2. I prefer to mix with nsw and leave for 24 hours then do a water change. I use this calculator to help with how many water changes i need to do.

I agree go VERY slow, preferably outside the tank. Dropping alk by 1.4 dKH dropped pH instantly from 8.1 to 6.9 in my tests of adding acid (like this product).

I find muriatic acid from my local hardware store much easier to source. I've used it for many years to lower ALK in IO.
