I’m going to try to attach a picture and a short video here. I just looked at my tank & my pink cucumber has a ton of like tentacles coming out of its rear end. Not the end it sucks in the

food… I don’t know I’ve never seen this I’m not sure if I should remove it from the tank or not?

I can’t seem to get a video to link up...
Very wiggly works like. Roughly 1/2” long on a 1” cucumber...

Sure looks like some type of hare, or nibranch. They are beneficial if you can take care of them. Also if they get stressed or die they will press the self destruction button on the tank and it's a restart from there.

It IS a pink sea cucumber.
One end has the neat feathery things that helps it feed. These red worm hairs are seemingly coming out the back.
I don’t want to to damage the rest of the tank....

Look like a sea cucumber.

Sooo I have been continuing to read/ research today about this. I am SUPER PARANOID about this thing wiping out my tank.
I have now read though that this is called “evisceration”? It is an expelling if the guts. I read that SOME species do this as a protective/ stress response, and other species do this SEASONALLY!?!! From early September to mid November....
Then they “regenerate” and are fine??
So strange and I am still worried/ fascinated....
Any thought here?

Monitor closely...and update thread so others can learn from this...thats all i can suggest.

I will-... just hope it doesn’t hurt the tank... my husband says “flush it!!” Lol
I just want to fix the little guy- I have had him for at least a year...

Might be a natural process..
Curious myself...

Do you have another tank you can transfer it to? If it was me I would be getting it out ASAP.. I had a sea apple do something similar years ago and it nuked my tank.

you could temporarily do a bucket filled with tank water and heater however you will probably want to do water changes in bucket daily using water from tank to refill bucket.. good luck and keep us posted.

Geeze.... I wonder how long it will take the little guy to stabilize...

If it’s on it’s way out it probably only has a few days left at best, watch it very closely and if it looks like it’s degrading/disintegrating flush it.. if nothing changes or it seems to be stabilizing or getting better in a week or so maybe try putting it back in tank.
