Adopted this acro from a friend.
Had it laying around in his sump, so wasn’t in great condition.
Got some colour back into it, only one part is now completly white.

Cut the part away, completly lost or hope for the best and what caused it?

Once it gets healthy, you will need to cut it up. Cut the top off for one frag and then leave the bottom. Be sure that take some live tissue when you cut so that no dead spots are left behind.

@jda What happens if you don't cut it up? I had partial STN from a move and neglect and I've just left it. It's recovering color but I'm wondering what will happen.

It will eventually grow back over. At least that is what I have experienced

You can leave it. There are some that have opined that the border of the dead/live area can bring in more disease in the future, but I don't have any idea if this is true. Most healthy corals will heal a fresh snip and grow new branches faster than they will grow over old dead skeleton.

Cool, thanks for the replies. I guess I’ll frag it then. I have little patience as it is :)
