I definitly have some bugs on my Acros and a few have lost PE. The ones that lost PE though seem to either have no bugs on them or very few. Before I nuke the tank with interceptor can even a small bug problem cause a loss of PE?

Depends on the bugs. Do you know what kind of bugs they are? There are a ton of variables that can impact PE. Don’t listen to the posts that claim PE isn’t important, which are bound to start soon. Little to no PE is a sign of stress. Every sps that I have ever lost started with PE retraction.

Not sure what kind exactly. This is two of them on my green slimer. This one lost poly extension but is still growing.

Definitely some visible black bugs there. Not sure what they are exactly. Did they come in on that piece? Do you dip your corals every time? And what dip do you use?

Dip everything in revive. Haven't added anything new in almost a year. Have no idea where they came from.

I am wondering if I should dip this one peice in interceptor and see if improves after. If it does than I can treat the entire tank.

Does anyone know if this will work or would it just get infected again right away?

Well if you have bugs in your system and only treat one piece, once that piece is put back in, I'd think it'd get reinfected, wouldn't you? You have to treat your system if you have bugs

Yes, but I dont really know if the bugs are causing the lack of polyp extension. If they arent I wouldn't nuke my tank with interceptor. I want to treat the 1 coral and see if the polyps come back out.

Also not sure how quickly they move from coral to coral. Is it immediate, days, weeks, etc?

I have interceptor on hand but haven't used it. I don't think people report wide spread death if it's used correctly, and even then some people overdose it without ill effect. Do your due diligence and I think you'd be fine.

Personally, if I were you, I'd treat the whole tank and not take a chance.

My biggest concern is with my shrimp and acro crabs. I know it sounds silly but I feel guilty killing the cleaner shrimp without knowing if those bugs are the reason for the lack of polyp extension.

Can you set something up temporarily for those inverts while you treat for a day? Seems like the easiest thing to do in your case, small little tank, air stone?

Yes, but I couldn't catch them. Actually have the tank setup already. Been up and running for a few months as I was going to treat months ago. Tried bottle traps, etc. The hermit crabs are easy to get. The shrimps not so much.

+1 Interceptor is a whole tank treatment but follow well documented directions on this site.

So ended up dosing the interceptor at standard dosage. So far shrimp lived and saw one acro crab. Have a few hermits that were KIA. Bugs still alive unfortunately. Doing a water change now, bummer.

Bugs definitly still alive and moving around. They die pretty instantly right? If they are still alive does that means treatment failed or can the effects of the medication kill them over a few days? I dosed half a large pill in a roughly 140 gallons of water.
