Acro Crab

It's hard to get pics of these guys but you can make out in the center of the acro a "Bandit Acropora Crab". I have three of these and then a Trapezia Pocillopora/Acropora Crab that lives in my big ReefGen Milka Stylophora.

Thanks Salty. Usually the recommendation is to pull them, mostly a safety for smaller fish animals, are you mostly a big fish tank? do they wander much?

They only bother fish that are close to their home. Most acro crabs feed on the mucus from the acropora their on. As long as the coral is large enough to not be damaged, they are ok. They usually don't wonder if their getting what they want from the colony their in. I had a couple of times they started setting up home in a smaller colony and had to shake to colony to get them to take up home in a larger colony. So far they have stayed pretty small, 1/2"~1", so they shouldn't bother any of my fish. I don't have anything small enough for them to catch. Just the opposite, my wrasses constantly take an interest in them

Love acro crabs! Only have three, one lives in my stylo, I've had him for almost 5 yrs.

I have one tiny wildling in the tank. I belive he is a "gorilla "crab, whatever not scientific that means. Still havent positively ID him. And hes so tiny Ill never get him out. He likes to wave at me though so I know where he is.
I have no good acros either though.
Weird that Ill probably look for a crab that comes with coral it lives on.

With the way your tank is looking, it won't be long. I found a gorilla crab not too long ago and he now resides in the sump. He was petty small too, @3/8, just glad I saw him and could catch him before he could do any damage.

It's funny because they're all packed on this medium sized piece which I wouldn't consider a colony yet. Haha

I have one of these in my Milka Stylo. It's the one that has eggs every couple of months @ 1". It does let the fish real quick when they're too close to his pad
