How many people save the dead part cut from the base Acro colonies and use it in calcium reactors?

I've seen that recommended by an expert in one of the magazines in the past. Cannot remember who it was, though.

Nope, I use Tropic Eden only..... best quality I’ve seen. Interesting to think of recycling trimmings, but I don’t want all that stuff hanging around until I get enough for a reactor full....

I threw a double handful in the garbage yesterday. I was scared to try it.

I've used coarse grade media of Tropical Eden, ARM, and Two Little Fish. They all look like tiny coral branches. I use whichever the cheapest (often Tropical Eden)/on sale at the time. I heard that they were coral branches rolled in a big drum to make them small and smoother. When I was short on the media (the last change), I mixed a small amount of my old coral skeletons. I have not seen any problem.
