Is there an acro database somewhere that catalogs well known acros from different shops, their preferred par, photos, growth structure, etc???

If no, any interest in creating one? I am a software developer so I like making apps....

I have sooo much ideas for this. Use cases I want to solve for include:

- search acros by name, color, ideal par, type, growth pattern, etc
- image gallery (user submitted, maybe partner with vendors for official photos?)
- testimonials from reefers on placement and color changes. For example, PC rainbow shows more yellow in med light but turns mostly red in high light. I would love to capture stuff like this in a centralized database
- partner with vendors with direct links to their sale website? This can be a way for this app to generate enough revenue to support operating cost. I am not trying to get rich here but I would like to not spend all my money on hosting cost =P.
- catalog similar corals. We all know vendors love to rename stuff but it would be cool to be looking at TSA twisted sister and see similar colored acros from other vendors.

This would be a great idea. The only annoying thing is people call the same acros by many different names.

This would be a good start with this book. Has 700 of them.

I love this idea and I would love to help you set it up if you do end up creating something like this. I'm sure a lot of the big vendors would also be helpful with this as they want to see the hobby/industry grow and improve!

Great idea. Need this for ALL corals, not just Acros. Even a step further with a picture identification feature to really set it off.

Great idea! Would be pretty tough to do and definitely a v2 feature for down the line. But I love the idea of using image recognization and AI.

@ninjamyst there's an app I use called "Seek". You take a picture of a plant and it'll identify it for you, pretty cool, try it out. Something like this for corals would be perfect.
