Acro Flatworms

There is no in tank treatment so far. Levamisole was attempted by quite a few but nearly everyone lost it all or it didn't work. I believe something will have to happen in the future as aefw are spreading much much faster now than they were 5-10yrs ago. 10yrs ago they were extremely rare imo, but now they are brought in all the time. I see them like aiptasia here in the next few.

In addition to bayer dips ( once weekly), I would recommend isolating the SPS and having AEFW predators such as Target Mandarins, Springeri or Chrysiptera Parasema damselfish, and a wrasse such as Melanarus, Six-Line, or Coris.

Melafix dip is gentle on corals and effective on worms. Fish are ineffective as the worms hide in coral crevices during the day. That said they can help.

Do not overreact on this, usually if they are heavily infested, there is something else going on in your system that is affecting the acro's defense system of flat worms. If your acros are really encrusted, and there is no a feasible way to remove all of your encrustation, chances are they will remain in your system. I would recommend flat worm stop, and check for something off such as stray voltage or another factor that could be causing your acros to be stressed. I have had acro flat worms for at least five years. Anytime I notice an issue with them, something is off in my system that gives them an advantage. At the moment I have over 70 different sps, and half are heavily encrusted. So quarantine was not an option. After I corrected the issues, weakening my acros, they no longer were an issue. I also started using flat worm stop, which will help. I promise it will get better, if you can remove really affected ones, dip them, and super glue over the areas of encrustation that they have killed and layed eggs
