The KZ coral light new gen’s are very white. Like a white/violet look.

I have one in the front and back. You can see how white they look.

My bulb spread before switching to the 50/50 mix of giesmanns actinics was 3 KZ new generation bulbs, 3 KZ super blue, 1 ATI actinic, and 1 KZ purple bulb (I forget the exact name). It was pleasing to my eye and I liked it alot, I had a hard time justifying trying a new spread, other than some successes I had seen from other people doing it. Whichever way you go you won’t have any trouble growing corals if everything else is alright.

You might be talking about the KZ Fiji pink. I’m running 2 right now. Also running KZ super blue, KZ new gen, ATI B+, ATI Actinic, but like you I’m probably gonna change because I’m looking for better growth and feel I can get more with ATI or Giesemann. My eye likes KZ bulbs though.

At the level of the KZ, ATI, Giesmann playing field it’s hard to say definitively which is better. I was somewhat blown away when I changed my bulbs, that might have been expecting to hate it and not, coupled with KZ bulbs passed their prime. I will be buying Giesmanns again for the foreseeable future though

I run my LED’s low. I like maxing out my T5’s.

My powermodule is a 60” version and so not dimmable. So the T5’s are full tilt boogey for 10 hours a day. My LED’s stop at 75% because early on I suspected that any higher was contributing to a bleaching event I had.

I’m running a 8 lamp 48” PowerModule on my 75. It’s a lot of light. It’s dimmable, but honestly I got great growth with non-dimmable ATI sunpower fixtures.

The powermodule definitely pumps out some serious PAR, I fell in love with the fixture right away. I have no regrets having chosen it.

I wish I could afford a pm, they are superb. I have always tried to use as many different type of bulbs as I could to get the wife’s range of spectrum I could. It’s hard unless you have 8 or even better 10 bulbs. White bulbs are a must for me, mostly 50/50 or 60/40 blue to white bulbs.

The “super actinic” is basically their blue plus bulb. As for PAR I didn’t do a comparison, my old set of bulbs was significantly passed their prime at the end. They were much brighter (to me) than I anticipated. I’ve also always have been a fan of the more “white light” tanks, I cut my teeth on 6500K Iwasaki bulbs back in the late 80’s, I was afraid I’d hate it, so much so that I ordered a second set of KZ bulbs more like what I had before. After giving it a shot, I found out I REALLY liked the extra pop that it gave the tank, and with the LED’s emulating the ATI coral plus bulb, it’s not obnoxiously blue in any way. I say give it a shot! If you hate it you can always swap a few out for different bulbs.

I'm ordering a couple new T5 bulbs this week and found this thread... I currently run a 50/50 mix of ATI Blue+ and ATI True Actinic with AI Hydra LED Supplements. Ironically, I feel this T5 combo is too white! And I think the reason for that is that ATI Blue+ has a large spike of green in it. The same is true to a lesser extent of the ATI True Actinic.

In an effort to get the same bulbs but without so much green I'm considering the 50/50 combo:
KZ Super Blue (in lieu of ATI Blue +), OR
Giesemann Actinic Blue (in lieu of ATI Blue+),
AND
Giesemann Super Actinic (in lieu of ATI True Actinic).

Can anyone comment on these substitutions?

Rick.45cal, You stated that Geisemann Super Actinic is about the same as ATI Blue Plus. Are you sure about this? I would have guessed that Geismann Actinic Blue = ATI Blue+. While Giesmann Super Actinic = ATI True Actinic. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm just going by the spectragraphs provided for the bulbs. I want to get this straight before I make a purchase.

What I meant is it’s the comparable bulb offered by ATI, they aren’t the same sprectrum wise. Sorry for any confusion.

I would like a bulb that show the color of my pink pocilopora, wich you think would be better the kz fidji or the ati purple?

Either would be fine. It will help brink out pink and reds.
