Well, I am officially frustrated. I've had his frag for about two weeks now. Many three, everything has been beautiful, all other frags are beautiful. Its my red planet. The skin is peeling off. Where the skin is still there, it still has its full base color and full polyp extension. All parameters are spot on. With dosing my alk fluctuates by .5 daily. Cal is 450 . Alk is 7.75-8.25. Mg. Is 1400. Salinity 1.026. Nitrates 0-2. Phosphates .02. Like I said all other acros look perfect. Is this just something that happens from time to time with acros? I have several harder to keep acros doing great. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You should frag whatever is still healthy and worry about what's wrong later. As long as you have a healthy bit you may be able to save it and not lose anymore.

Put it in a spot with very little flow for now. But since it is a frag, it probably is too late. Sorry to say.

It is weird to see the skin peeling off, showing nothing but the internal "bone" of the coral, and the rest of it will have full PE, and color. It's almost like the coral has no idea what's going on. To this day, that is something I dont get. You would think the entire coral would respond to just a little bit of peeling, and show some sort of sign of distress. I have had very little luck in stopping a frag from RTN/STN, I have had some colonies that I was able to save, but it is rare.

Well, as long as it's the only one (fingers crossed) its not that bad. This is one out of a pack of 25 high end acros.

If its a new frag it may just have not acclimated well. Not your failt just sometimes they don't. Or maybe to much stress from shipping and so on. With acros especially ur gona have frags die for no reason you can detect.

Theres guys out there with the baddest sps tanks around and sometimes they still loose a new frag.

Thats one of the reasons acros are one of the most sought after corals to keep, because its such a difficult challenge

I agree 100%. There's so many reason why acros die and most you will never know why. Cool luck with it.

If I had a dollar for every $20 frag I've lost I could buy Bart's tank! Heck 2 years ago I got a very large birdsnest colony from him that completely cratered within a week. Heck since the swap in April I've lost probably 8 or 9 frags and ½ of the frogspawn I bought.

Hang in there on them.
