Acro ID. Green stag with blue tips

X2...A.micropathalma. I never thought I would complain that a coral grew too fast, but mine was a weed. I think everyone in my club got a piece and I traded in a huge colony. I have the WWC yellow tip now which I think is the A. loisettae, someone correct me if I‘m wrong. It has a much slower growth rate and IMO a lot prettier with the bright green branches and blue with yellow tips.

The yellow tip I always thought was an austera. It grew like a weed for me so I had to pull it. Beautiful coral in really strong light though!

If people keep posting their stag colonies this thread might become something nice There are a ton of different staghorns out there and I am not particularly good at identifying between some of them but most of the pics here look like different corals all around. Staghorns have really not been collected like other corals recently and people haven’t really been keeping names or lineage on them it seems. I would love to know which stags are popular in which regions since it seems most every area has a stag that propagates very well but doesn’t get shipped out of the area as much as other corals. I love some staghorns and wish more were keen to keeping them. The red variants are my favorites, and there are not many that are true red stags. The grey/green base with light blue tips seems to be the most common variant I have seen. Finding ones that will turn all blue in good light is tough though, but the Steve e stag does this pretty well which is why I jumped at picking up some frags of it.

OrioN, your colony looks close to the Steve e stag but it is very green. All the colonies I have seen of it had a decent amount of blue in them unless they were under low light which yours doesn’t seem to be. Maybe we can get everyone to chip in and make a list of all the popular staghorns we have named in the past, starting with the stuber stag.

Here is one a person gave me when I was at the lfs. It was small and thin maybe 1.5" max.
He called it a purple stag.
In my tank which is only 10 months old it is light purple with white polyps on new growth ends and green polyps near the bottom.
It has grown from this to current in 5 months.
Different lights give different look. I run 4b+ 4c+ and he runs radions.
His is darker purple and mine lighter and thicker maybe do to my high flow?
Its at least 8" now.

Here is mine picked it up few months ago as Indo Maracultured. When I bought its it was all a sky blue but over time in my tank its turned a nice green with sky blue tips.

Minh did you get your first frag from a MAAST member? I got mine in 2013 or 2014? It was nice because it grew great in only a PAR reading of 90 where I kept my frags as well as 300 to 400. I moved a frag from my 300 to my office tank around 2015 and it grew very well, I then upgraded tanks. it grew so well I had to frag and sell it. I think I paid $10 for it originally?

Glad I found this thread. I have the same coral and was wondering what it was. The one shown was very leggy when I got it so I pruned it hard. I have pieces of it in a couple tanks now. In my main 120 reef it has gotten very blue on the ends. I am wondering if it’s getting bluer with better light. I just upgraded from a 36” powermodule to a 48” sunpower which gives this piece more direct light. The blue is impressive on the new growth.
