I just picked up this chunky acro a couple days ago from my lfs. It is currently green and some brown so I am waiting for it to color up at this time but I was curious if anyone could tell what it is supposed to be?
The lfs owner said it was something with highlighter in the name.

Not a tenuis but I don’t have a good guess from that pic. Can you get a better one? Does kinda look like a funky forming plana but also reminds me of an austera in some spots. Normally ime highlighter is labeled when it’s green with bright green/yellow tips or just bright green all over.

I thought about a skinny austera but the axial tips didn't look right to me, however, I dont doubt that it could turn out to be austera.

Looks like gold rush acro

Found this but thought it was close

The OP's coral structure is not that of A. Tenuis. If I had to guess I would agree with Corey and say possibly A. Plana

Looks like austera, much better pics. Plana has more uniform coralites that are normally the same size and more abundant near the branch ends.
Im still sticking with plana, radials and axials on austera usually taper, while plana typically has swelled tips on axials/ incipient axials.

Guess we will have to have OP keep us updated as it grows out.

Keep us updated as it grows. I am curious as to how it turns out. After a lot of looking at different pics it does look like some of the thinner branching plana, guessing they are Aussie pieces. And if it is an austera it would probably show thicker branching really soon. Eymann thanks for helping try to ID coral on this site it’s really helping me learn a lot.

There’s not many people that even care about acropora ID anymore so I gotta take it for more than that. Shoot I just figured out a number of years ago that there is a standard of things to look for to make an educated ID.
