Acro Losing Color and Bleach Spots

So over the last week my Acro, came from PEA a months back, stopped extending polyps and has been looking dull and losing color. In the last 2 weeks I added a flasher wrasse that got a nasty gash in its side. Worried about an infection I have been feeding metro and kanaplex laced feed. Not sure if their is any correlation or not but the timing is suspicious. My anemone also recently split so possibly some type of chemical allopathic reaction? Its the only Acro in my tank that seems off and I havent added anything in a pretty long time. Should I ride it out or frag off the rock and move?

Sounds like a water chemistry issue for the SPS and anemone. Anemone can split due to stress. Post your water parms.

Water Chem is spot on. Nitrate on the low end but its there. The nem split because it was huge. Wasnt a stress split.

Depending on your lighting levels it may be from your nutrients low and Alk over 9......try and slowly drop your ALK to 8 or under and also your Calc could do with lowering....Apart from a low Iodine I think yout traces look okay...easy fix me thinks.

I dont know how far apart these readings are....but it appears to me that you have unstable alkalinity. 10.6 to 7.5 is a big swing and when your alkalinity starts swinging, it is not good for your sps and can cause stn. Its also stressful for you anemone and can cause it to split. The size of an anemone does not depict if its going to split or not.

Do you have an alk test kit? I would start testing your alk at least once a day, twice would be better (morning/evening) for about 5 to 7 days to see whats going on there. What are you dosing and at what times? Did you just start dosing iodine?

10.6 is my alk. 7.5 is the labs reference range.

Manganese is just as effective at stripping zooxanthella and paling acros as copper. What are you dosing that contains Mn mate ?.

My manganese is actually undetected. They recommended I actually add to get it back to .96.

What are you using that give you those kinds of detailed reading on your parameters.
ARe you adding to a spreadsheet or do you have some system doing it.

If you feel your numbers are in place and not much has changed check for signs of flat worms, acro eating flatworm in particular, signs are pale corals, no PE and bleach from the bottom up
