Great pics! When using the xsi what mode are you shooting in and what settings are you using my buddy just got one and i was messing around with it the other day just trying to pick your brain a little.

full manual mode
as for "picture style" I make one custom
sharpness all the way up
contrast up one notch
saturation up two notches

ISO 100 (200 on actinic shots)
Fstop 14-16
and shutter speed 0.4" -1/8 seconds
a tripod on some
Make sure the camera is perpendicular to the tank glass.
Also on a two second timer
also on the auto focus point selection I put it on only the center dot for the camera to focus on so I know where the clearest part of the shot is

AND TURN ALL FLOW OFF IN THE TANK corals hold still

not a garf bonsi but an unknown one it encrusts more than it grows up
here is a pic of the colony it only grows like 1" tall branches but encrusts really thick..

I will post some of the original pics along with the cropped macros so you can see how good this cheap (by DSLR standards) camera can really do with a stock 18-55 lens
