So I got an acro shipped in and it stn. I managed to save a tiny portion using super glue. However the strangest thing happened. Almost all of the skin peeled off but a few polyps have survived. It has been this way for 3 weeks and is actually improving. But algae is starting to grow on the skeleton and I worry it will finish it off. Any suggestions. Here is a pic

It might recover, I had an efflorescence that had a little piece like that break off. It took about three to four weeks then it started growing kind of rapidly.

Did the coral stn after or during acclimation? How fast?

It was a strange deal. Half the shipment came dead. This coral looked good for 7 hours. Then I guess rtn with polyps out.

In my experience, if a coral is still partially alive, the algae will not affect that portion. If it is recovering, I would leave it exactly where it is. No sense in moving it if it is doing OK where it is.

Thought I would give an update. This acro has pulled through and is now encrusting.

I hope you called wherever you got that frag from, most have LIVE guarantee 24hrs after shipment has arrived. but im glad the coral has survived.

I did and the vendor was very kind and sent replacements. This is the first time I have ever really had a coral get to this condition and pull through. It definitely changes my approach for the future with rtn. I didn't really try to frag the coral just glued over the rtn parts. I'm just amazed from 2 polyps I now have 6 and its really growing fast

i have one polyp yes one polyp turn into a colony- i had a similar issue as you but kept it and one polyp stayed alive and now 7 months later i have a sweet 5" colony from nothing to everything :) give it time and the right parameteres and it will recover

When I moved a pocillipora I broke off a tiny piece (less than 1/4"). I glued it laying down and it grew a couple branches in three weeks!
